| All these cloths are genuine
Nigerian textiles hand-woven by women on the
upright single heddle loom and collected in
Nigeria. Yoruba cloths part 2 - thick indigo dyed kijiipa
wrapper cloths woven with hand-spun cotton thread. The most
widespread type of kijiipa, woven until the 1950s by women in
virtually all Yoruba areas, was plain blue and white striped
cloth. A few, much rarer pieces, mainly in the north east of the
Yoruba area, incorporate supplementary weft float
patterns. We have numerous plain
indigo blue striped pieces at our shops and see also our indigo
gallery. Unless otherwise indicated they are all old cloths
that have been worn and carefully treasured by the
man or woman that first commissioned them from the
weavers. Full
details of size and condition for each cloth,
together with price and ordering information, can
be found with a larger picture by clicking on the
thumbnail images. Please be patient as the images
may take a minute to download. As with all our
cloths we guarantee a full refund if you are not
satisfied with any order.
