Rare women's weave version of a classic Yoruba cloth usually woven in narrow strips on the double heddle loom by men in Ilorin. This configuration of warp stripes was a popular marriage cloth, particularly in Ilorin, until the middle of the C20th. It is likely that women from some weaving families chose to imitate the design on their own loom type rather than pay to buy a strip woven piece. See Lamb & Holmes 1980:38 for a strip weave example. In excellent condition and dates to around mid-C20th.
