CODE#: NW355 PRICE: US$195 Measurement: 71ins x 23ins, 180 cm x 60 cm Ebira weavers in the town of Okene are now the largest group of women still using the upright single heddle loom in Nigeria. Their brightly coloured rayon silk cloths are a highly fashionable rival to Yoruba aso oke across much of West Africa. This piece from the 1970s illustrates an earlier phase of Ebira weaving, showing the influence of aso oke designs and the recently introduced lurex thread. In excellent condition.
