Ikat motifs were a speciality of women weavers in the town of Igara near Okene. Almost all were done in yellow, a few in red, brown, or white. This red ikat on indigo blue  ground piece is notable for the double rows of ikat and the skill in which the motifs are created.  Since the 1960s machine spun thread has replaced the hand spun cotton used on this mid century piece.
