these cloths are genuine Kuba cut pile cloths, woven and collected in
the Republic of Congo. They show qualities of design and attention to
detail rarely found today. Each is in excellent condition. Assessing the
age of Kuba cloths is difficult as they are rarely subject to much wear
and tear and can be stored in the family for long periods. Also there is
a lack of detailed research on the issue. We try to select cloths that
stand out from the run of the mill pieces around today. Where there is a
clear patina of use this is usually indicated in the description.
However it is probably as well to regard all as virtuoso displays of
creativity without worrying too much about precise age. Full details of
