Very unusual cloth where a flecked effect has been achieved by using an ikat technique to resist dye inthe warp threads prior to weaving - see detail. Both the patterned strips and the plain dark indigo strips are early C20th but they were probably combined much later. The cloth has been cleaned and beaten by the traditional local method leaving it with a starched shiny patina which can easily be rinsed away if desired.   The piece is in excellent condition and dates from early C20th.
