PRICE: US$725

Measurements: 79ins x 59ins, 193cm x 151cm

This early C20th women's wrapper cloth has a classic design which alternates strips of "etu" or "guineafowl" pattern  - a fine check of dark handspun indigo dyed local thread with strips in which complex supplementary weft float patterns in magenta silk cover a paler blue and white check ground.  It is very good condition ( a couple of tiny holes >1cm) and retains the original hand sewing of the seams. See John Gillow "African Textiles" (2003 page 53) for a similar piece collected by us.
