Although later than the other ikats I am featuring at the moment on this page, this piece, dating from circa 1950, is unusual and rather beautiful. It has a subtle blue weft strip regularly spaced across the mainly aubergine background. Machine spun thread is used, the seams between the strips are hand stitched but the hemming at each end was sewn using a machine. In excellent condition. I forgot to do a detail, can do one on request.
