MEASURES: 73 ins x 65 ins, 166cm x 166cm

The first of several examples of early C20th or late C19th aso oke where the wrapper is made up of a number of different patterned strips. Although we have been lucky to collect a group of these recently they are extremely rarely seen and a superb sampler of early aso oke design. In this case there are five   different warp striped designs including a fine ikat pattern. Hand spun local indigo dyed thread is used in the weft and the bulk of the warp.  As is usually the case with these early cloths there is some machine sewing of a couple of seams that have come loose but the cloth retains most of its original stitching.  In excellent condition.
